The Stories Behind the Tweets – Catalunya/Brazil/Buenos Aires

2015-06-23 1

The Stories Behind the Tweets, hosted by Coromoto Jaraba, seeks to open a window to the world, to get to the bottom of stories larger than 140 characters. We first travel to the Catalan city of Terrassa, where hundreds of townspeople are building a ten-story human tower at a festival in the neighboring city of Girona. Then joy turns to sadness as we visit a town on the Xingu River in the Brazilian Amazon, where an enormous hydroelectric power plant and gold mine threaten local residents with the disappearance of the river and their entire way of life. We end up in the historic, recently restored Los Laureles tango bar in Buenos Aires, where time stands still and the dancing goes on. teleSUR
