CORTANA COMING IN WINDOWS PHONE 8.1 UPDATE (Escapist News Now)
According to sources from The Verge, Cortana is replace the built-in Bing search functionality and take the form of a circular animated icon instead of the busty blue babe we all know. She'll animate while speaking or thinking and will have her own unique personality. Users will be able to change Cortana's settings to have her call them by a nickname.
Access to a variety of information including contacts, location data, calendars and more will help Cortana be your own personal assistant. Tracking information in emails will work similar to Google Now such as alerting you to flight delays during travel. Cortana will work with popular apps like Foursquare as well.
However it is worth noting that even though the software is referred to as Cortana during the testing phase of the 8.1 update, it is not certain if Microsoft will choose to keep her name when the build finally launches. We should hopefully learn more at the upcoming Build conference where Microsoft is expected to unveil the final version along with a developer preview.
