Correa has called for a national debate on the two fiscal measures designed to redistribute wealth, but such a discussion has been rejected by the opposition. The country's social movements, while promoting a dialogue, are explaining the issues at stake to the public. The right-wing, meanwhile, is attempting to organize a referendum to remove Correa from office. Liz Scherffius reports from Quito.
