Although relations between the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and the Colombian government have cooled in recent weeks and the country's military has launched offensive operations against the rebels, at the peace talks currently underway in Havana the FARC reiterated its call for a bilateral ceasefire. FARC Commander Joaquin Gomez said an agreement on such a measure was the only way to halt the confrontation and ensure adoption of a final peace settlement. teleSUR
