A busy morning at the floating market in Kashmir.

Floating market is a sort of a wholesale market where small and big shopkeepers (floating boat-shops) buy vegetables from vegetable growers and then go off in their boats to houseboats and other small villages within the lake and sell these to them. Apparently most of these are grown within and around Dal Lake.

The Sabzi Bazaar takes place everyday from 4am to 6am. It has often been compared to the floating market in Thailand. The market has gained popularity over the years but it is still very much a local affair.
