Argentina Receives Support from Belgium In Vulture Funds Dispute

In its fight against hedge fund speculation, Argentina has received support from Belgium. In the framework of the EU-CELAC summit held in Brussels earlier this week, Belgium Foreign Affairs Minister Didier Reynders met with his Argentine counterpart Hector Timerman. The Belgian Parliament is set to vote on a bill that would place a limit on what vulture investors can raise from sovereign bonds if a country defaults and would forbid those who bought sovereign debt on the cheap from suing for the full amount. Argentina is calling for the UN to establish a legal framework to regulate such transactions. Laureano Ponce reports from Buenos Aires. teleSUR
