Teachers March Against Education Privatization in Mexico City

2015-06-12 5

Thousands of dissident teachers of the National Coordinating Group of Education Workers (CNTE) marched through Mexico City on Wednesday in opposition to government education measures that they will privatize the country’s education system and be used as a Trojan Horse for mass layoffs. Teachers expressed their outrage over the reinstatement of punitive teacher evaluations. One of the aims of last week’s anti-election protests in the South of the country was to force the government to negotiate over its education policies.
