Ecuador: Opposition Protests Turn Violent

With President Rafael Correa out of the country, protests were held on Tuesday and Wednesday nights against new measures that will affect the wealthy. Demonstrators called for Correa’s ouster and attacked journalists and government supporters. Former Ecuadoran Minister of Culture, Paco Velasco, was injured during the protests. The demonstrators are angry about a proposed inheritance tax and a new law that will regulate capital gains and vow to continue their protests. teleSUR
