Peru's First Lady, Nadine Heredia, wife of President Ollanta Humala, has vowed to prevent an investigation into allegations that she was involved in corruption and money laundering. A court has accepted a writ of habeas corpus filed by Heredia to halt the investigation into charges of money laundering involving illegal money transfers between 2005 and 2009 for US$200,000. The First Lady has been under public scrutiny since May due to excessive and lavish personal expenditures. teleSUR
