Dozens of assailants attacked marchers in a gay pride parade in Kiev on June 6, the second such event ever held in the city. At least 10 were injured. As many as 300 members of the LGBT community attended, along with 2,000 police officers deployed to protect them after the ultra-nationalist Right Sector, or Pravy Sektor, vowed to cause disruptions, according to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

Five policemen were among the injured in the clashes, which resulted in at least 25 arrests.

Kiev Mayor Vitaly Klitschko had called for the event to be cancelled to avoid confrontations, BBC reported. Credit: YouTube/Max Tucker
