In today's program host Andy Sebastia interviews the young singer Mariela Condo, who combines traditional Ecuadoran music with modern genders. They talk about her first album, produced only seven years ago, which features two songs that her grandparents sang to her when she was a child in the indigenous community of Cacha in the Chimorazo province. In her second album, her soft soprano voice, backed by Andean rhythms is highlighted by jazz played on acoustic instruments. She says this production, in which she teams up with producer Fernando Orihuela, is influenced to some extent by her ongoing studies in the Institute of Contemporary Music at the San Fransico University in Quito. teleSUR
