Venezuela: Social Spending 61 Percent of Budget

Venezuelan authorities are presenting the achievements the country has made in social spending before the United Nations Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights in Geneva, Switzerland. Venezuela’s Vice President for Planning and Knowledge, Ricardo Menendez is heading up the delegation. Social gains made over the last 15 years of the Bolivarian Revolution include the dedication of 61 percent of Venezuela’s national budget, to investment in health, housing, education and food. Before 1999 only 37 percent of the budged was dedicated to spending in these areas. teleSUR
