FIFA Scandal Fuels Charges against Ex-Peruvian Soccer President

The FIFA bribery scandal is sending shock waves halfway around the world in Peru. Former Peruvian Soccer Federation president Manuel Burgos, blamed for the country's dismal performance of the national team and the local league for the past 13 years, faces an anti-corruption lawsuit. The lawsuit cites the FIFA investigation and involves 32 Peruvian officials. The recent scandal in the world of international soccer will strengthen the case against Burgos, who, together with the officials, is accused of embezzling Federation funds through a construction company.
