Syria and Iraq Battle IS Extremists

2015-06-02 1

Syria and Iraq have been suffering from deadly internal conflicts for years, with much of the current conflict fueled by the Islamic State. IS extremists fired six missiles laden with chlorine gas at an Iraqi complex in Western Anbar, while Irak sent forces into eight areas south of Samarra, where they reportedly liberated large areas. A member of the Syrian Parliament charges that there is an effort by the West to dismantle the entire region by sending large numbers of mercenaries to the area. Islamic State fighters have made significant advances near the border with Turkey and may gain control of key supply routes. Another member of the Syrian Parliament charges that most IS support comes from Turkey. At the same time, military sources confirm that the Syrian Arab Army has destroyed a significant number of IS weapons. Hazem Abdullah reports from Damascus for teleSUR.
