The Charleston Chasers recording sessions were often a pseudonym for Red Nichols Five Pennies, but the name was used by Columbia for various other outfits including the Original Memphis Five. The Charleston Chasers records had an all-star cast of musicians and even featured several fine vocal recordings. The Charleston Chasers existed only as a studio recording ensemble, first as another way of saying Red Nichols & His 5 Pennies, then as Columbia's all-purpose jazz combo. This brilliant recording was made in 1927.
