Despite the ferocity of the battle waged by the Syrian Army against the Islamic State in the city of Palmyra, a source in the Army has confirmed that defense forces have withdrawn from the ancient city under heavy assault from ISIS after helping many people evacuate. Some say that a curfew has been opposed and fear for the safety of those who haven’t been able to leave the city.
