Ecuadoran Politicians in Police Custody on Corruption Charges

A member of Ecuador’s National Assembly, María Esperanza Galván, and two other members of the ruling party have been arrested following allegations of corruption. Galván has confessed to engaging in irregular activities, and government leaders say that the three have been expelled from the País Alliance Party and are in police custody. In his State of the Union address on Sunday, President Rafael Correa said that corruption will not be tolerated in the Citizens’ Revolution.
