Islamic State group advances: Baghdad and Washington trade blame over losses (part 2)

2015-05-26 7

The fight is on in Ramadi, a campaign to recapture the capital of Anbar province that has now been taken in hand by Shiite militias. But even as the operation unfolds, Washington, Baghdad and Tehran are involved in a war of words over who was responsible for the fall of Ramadi in the first place. The town was captured by the Islamic State group on May 17th, in the biggest victory for the group in the country since the fall of Mosul last year.
