Colombia: FARC Redoubles Call for Bilateral Ceasefire

2015-05-25 2

The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) redoubled their call for a bilateral ceasefire, saying such a measure was more urgently needed than ever. Coming on the heels of government attacks on rebel positions that killed 30 rebels in the state of Cauca, over the weekend, airstrikes in the state of Antioquia left 10 guerrillas dead and 352 area residents displaced, forced to flee their homes. Social organizations and peace advocates are calling for a deescalation of the conflict and for the government to accept to accept the FARC's bilateral cease fire proposal.
