Muttahida Quami Movement has organized the 4th protest at Mohajir Camp No-3 in Baldia Town against the artificial shortage of water in city and attended by a huge number of participants, including women, children and elders of the area.
Talking on the occasion, member of the Coordination Committee Arif Khan Advocate said that the people were compelled to sit in the scorching sun because of extreme scarcity of water. He said that it was time to provide people’s basic necessities, especially water.
Arif Khan said that people had been suffering due to the crisis and the entire area was packed with illegal hydrants. He said that if the government did not react timely for the issue, people would themselves eradicate all the illegal hydrants from the area.
Member of Coordination Committee Abdul Haseeb said that the government and the authorities tried to make the city like Thar by creating artificial water shortage. He said that despite providing the rights to the people, the authorities trying to harass MQM workers and supporters through arbitrary arrests and raids.
Member Coordination Committee Gulfaraz Khan Khattak said that the people were protesting for the water in 21st century, though it was the responsibility of the government to provide basic needs. He said that if the majority was being deprived of with their fundamental rights, the result would not be good for all.
Member Central Executive Council Yuosuf Shahwani, MNAs Khawaja Suhail Mansoor and Salman Mujahid Baloch also addressed the rally participants. Meanwhile, the 5th rally of the protest series will be held on Main Road Korangi No-5.
