The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) announced that it was suspending its unilateral ceasefire with the government. The announcement comes after 26 rebel fighters were killed by government forces in the state of Cauca. It is the most serious confrontation between the rebels and the military since peace talks to end the five decade long conflict began three years ago. The government says the military operation was in response to a rebel ambush in April that left 11 soldiers dead. teleSUR
