Horrific video footage has emerged of a young Benfica fan witnessing what is believed to be his father and grandfather being beaten up by police in Portugal.
Benfica's celebrations for their first consecutive Primeira Liga titles since 1984 turned ugly when riot police dealt with supporters on the streets of Lisbon on Sunday.
It is understood the family – a grandfather, his son and two grandchildren – were at the Benfica game in Guimaraes before they got into an altercation with police. The footage shows them try to detain the father, before an officer hits the grandfather twice in the face. The same officer then strikes his son, who is already on the ground, with his baton, and the camera shows the youngest of the two children being held by riot police.
