Representatives from Palestine have held high level talks with Venezuelan officials in Caracas. After paying tribute to Venezuelan Independence hero Simon Bolivar, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad Malki expressed his thanks to Venezuela for its ongoing support and international advocacy. Venezuela’s Foreign Minister Delcy Rodriguez called on the world to stand up for Palestine. “The world cannot remain silent about the Palestinian cause,” she said. “The world must stand up to support the Palestine state.” Malki said that the Palestinian Ambassadors enjoy being in Caracas and feel a strong bond with the country. He disagreed strongly with President Barack Obama’s characterization of Venezuela as a national security threat to the U.S. and called on Obama to retract his statement and recognize that he is hurting his own country by taking such a position. teleSUR
