The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway is a 24 mile bridge that, until recently, was the longest bridge in the world. I did some digging to try to see how they factored the curvature of the Earth into the construction, as they would need to work with 384 ft of curvature for a 24 miles. I found it on a modern marvels documentary, where they explain that the road was built 2 inches longer than it's span. Ha!! Investigate folks, the Earth is flat.
