Three Comic-Con stuntmen who were setting up for an event rescued a woman who was about to plunge to her death from a 14th floor balcony last Thursday.
Stuntmen Amos Carver, Gregg Sergeant and Scot Schecter were roughly 30-40 feet away when they heard screams across the street. Seeing that crowds were looking up at a woman who was hanging off her balcony, the three men grabbed some gear and raced across the three-lane street, scaled a fence before entering the woman's building.
They found the woman's apartment door unlocked, and entered quietly as not to startle her. She was hanging on to the balcony with one hand with one foot off the ledge. They grabbed her from behind, and looped a harness around her before pulling her back in.
Carver told reports, "If we're saving somebody, it's a situation we constructed in such a way that they're out on the edge of life or death intentionally to get a certain shot [in a film], and we swoop in. But those are people that are expecting this."
"I was just so thankful we got there when we got there. I think if we'd been there two seconds later, she would've been gone," Sergeant added.
