Two women accuse San Diego Mayor Bob Filner of sexual harassment

San Diego Mayor Bob Filner is being accused of sexual harassment by two women, Irene McCormack Jackson and Laura Fink. McCormack has filed a lawsuit against the 70-year-old mayor.

Irene McCormack Jackson, 57, known professionally as Irene McCormack, was Filner's former director of communications. She alleges in her lawsuit that while working for the mayor, he put her in a headlock, told her to work without panties and said he wanted to "consummate" their relationship.

Celebrity lawyer Gloria Allred is representing McCormack. She has handled several high-profile cases in the past, including that of the family of Nicole Simpson in the murder trial of O.J. Simpson.

Laura Fink, Filner's former deputy campaign manager, alleges that Filner "patted her posterior" at a fundraising event in 2005, before the politician was elected mayor. She wrote an e-mail to the then-congressman confronting him about his behavior, but received only a half-hearted apology in response.

Fink claims she did not go public at the time because she was building her political career and feared retribution. The now-political consultant said she will make a formal report to the city's sheriff's hotline, which has been established in light of the scandal.

The allegations come a week after it was made public that the mayor had been accused of sexual harassment. Several figures, including former councilwoman Donna Frye, called for his resignation. However, at that time, no one had been publicly named of a victim of Filner's attacks.

Filner remains firm that he will not step down from office. He has stated that he is entitled to due process and that a review of the facts will prove him innocent of the accusations against him.
