Fine Art
2015_5gamdo
The exhibition "2015-5gamdo," inspired by poet Lee Sang's "Ogamdo," was
held at Sejong Center for the Performing Arts to mark the 70th anniversary of
Korea's independence from Japan. The poem expressed Lee's frustrations
about life during the colonial period, and "201_5Gamdo" displays some 800
art works depicting the atmosphere of a newly liberated Korea by some 300
Korean artists.
Artist Cho Myung-sik creates a live painting piece everyday during the
exhibition. Using the medium of art, Cho strives to discover the true meaning
of independence. Meanwhile, Artist Lim Man-sun turns 'Byeokjomok,' the
thunderstruck jujube trees, into pieces of art. Combining calligraphy with
painting on wood, his pieces exude diverse symbols and images, further
expanding the possibilities of art. Through their artistry, the artists heal and
console everyone and their uncured wounds.
