Cuba has been undergoing and will continue to experience major changes, all of which has sparked considerable interest in the international media. Regardless of all the speculation in this regard, it is clear that Cuban youth will be the driving force behind such changes. In today's program, host Cristina Escobar interviews Harold Cardenas, a university professor who together with two of his colleagues direct Joven Cuba (Young Cuba), one of the most popular and controversial of the many blogs coming out of Havana written by young people. Cardenas defends the need for a critical journalism that does not shy away from an open discussion of the country's problems, while at the same time defending the Cuban Revolution, its accomplishments, timeliness, and vision of social justice. He also discusses the experiences of Cuban blogosphere, its impact on society, the role of young people in fostering debate, and Magazine Cuba, a new publication that seeks a broader readership and circulates via web and Facebook pages, by email, and as part of what's known as the "weekly package", a popular and widely viewed selection of online content accessed through memory sticks. teleSUR
