Seattle Seahawks fans so loud they caused earthquake

Seattle Seahawks fans are once again the noisiest crowd in the world after breaking the Guinness World Record for crowd roar on Monday Night Football against the New Orleans Saints, registering a 137.6 decibel reading during the second quarter.

Seahawks fans can hold their heads high as they regained the Guinness World Record for crowd noise at CenturyLink Field with 68,387 in attendance at the game on Monday night.

The new record beats an earlier record of 137.5 decibels set by Kansas City Chiefs fans in an October game against the Oakland Raiders at Arrowhead Stadium. Before that, the Seahawks had the record for loudest crowd roar at 136.6 decibels set in Week 2 in a game against NFC West rival San Francisco 49ers. To put things in perspective, a jet engine at 100 feet is around 140 decibels.

Not only were the Seahawks fans loud as hell, they also were crazy enough to actually trigger seismic activity in a warehouse one block south of the stadium. The seismograph was set off in the warehouse during defensive end Cliff Avril's first quarter sack and forced fumble of Saints quarterback Drew Brees, which fellow defensive lineman Michael Bennett picked up and returned 22 yards for the first touchdown of the game.

The seismometer that recorded the seismic activity was the same one that picked up running back Marshawn Lynch's earth-shaking run against the Saints in the 2010 playoffs.
