A recent report by U.S. Department of Homeland Security has found that the Transportation Safety Administration is doing a poor job of overseeing the maintenance of its security screening equipment.
The Transportation Security Administration, or TSA, is failing to adequately manage its screening equipment, according to a recently released report by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The main contention is poor maintenance oversight despite having four contracts and spending around $251 million in 2014 to do so.
And because the TSA has not given adequate direction to airports about the proper maintenance of screening equipment including scanners and X-ray machines, it increases the risk of malfunction or costly, premature replacements.
