An unemployed Japanese man in his 40s was caught red-handed midnight on Sunday robbing a convenience store, taking cash and cigarettes worth a total of 78,000 yen (US$780).
The accused man, Sumio Arakawa, entered the store while drunk. Then, fell asleep, falling down on the floor shortly after threatening the 36-year-old part-time shop assistant with a knife.
Another clerk then called the cops as he slept on the floor before Arakawa suddenly got up and threatened him, asking him to hand over the money before police arrived at the store.
Police later found Arakawa 50 meters from the scene of the crime where they arrested him. He denied the robbery during questioning.
