Austin, Texas police say they have identified most of the suspects filmed on camera beating two men in downtown Austin's entertainment district on January 26th.

The violent incident took place just east of Interstate 35 and was captured on a cellphone. The video of the beating has gone 'viral' on the Internet, with reports claiming the video has been watched over 400,000 times.

In the video, which is too graphic for us to show in full here on YouTube but is available in full at TomoNews.net, two long haired white men become involved in an altercation with a group of mostly black men.

After heated words are exchanged, the two white men are beaten, and police say their wallets were also stolen.

On February 13, Austin police announced they had identified five out six suspects seen in the video and the men would be charged with a variety of offense, with some charged with battery and two slapped with theft charges for stealing the victim's wallets.

Austin's police chief Art Acevedo, held a news conference on February 13th to announce a break in the case, saying the suspects had been identified and that police would soon be seeking warrants for the suspects' arrest.

But, police chief Acevedo says his department does not believe the fight was not racially motivated, but instead was simply, in his words, "Nothing more than a bunch of people going downtown, getting too drunk, some probably smoking some weed."

Asked why the suspects had not already been arrested, the chief told reporters that they have yet to charge the men as they are waiting to identify the sixth man involved, which could take a few more days. The chief also said his department wants to make sure they have a clear, air-tight case against the men before submitting the case to prosecutors.
