Kansas City police are on the look out for one or more gunmen after a spate of shootings along highways and roadways around the city since early March that have left three people wounded.

One of the victims, Chris Shurmantine, told local news he was driving along Interstate 70 when his driver's side window suddenly shattered.

He said he looked down and saw blood and noticed wounds in his leg and bullet holes in the car door.

The bullet passed through his left leg and lodged in his right leg.

Shurmantine described it like 'getting hit by a baseball bat.'

Another victim told ABC that they were driving when someone wearing a ski mask shot at their car from another vehicle.

More than ten of the 20 or so shootings have taken place in Kansas City with seven concentrated around the area of the Grandview Triangle.

Several witnesses have described seeing white cars ahead of the shootings, while police say the attacks usually happen near exit ramps, enabling the shooters to make a quick getaway.

Investigators have so far recovered at least six bullets from vehicles and another from a victim's arm. City police have said they have evidence that some of the shootings are linked, although they would not say how many.
