A man was shot and killed at a restaurant on the 6000 block of East Whittier Boulevard in East LA at around 8:15 p.m. on Sunday.
The restaurant, Rincon de Guayabitos, often has loud music and people get rowdy and do things like break bottles, according to a man interviewed by CBS who lives nearby.
The victim was at the restaurant and is believed to be a customer. Police have not yet released his identity.
He and the suspect, who also has not been ID'd and is still on the loose, reportedly got into an argument.
The suspect then pulled out a gun and shot the victim, who was transported to hospital but did not survive.
Police say they are unsure whether the shots were fired inside or outside of the establishment. They searched the scene for nine hours collecting evidence such as fingerprints.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene in a black SUV, along with other people who been in the restaurant.
Police are interviewing witnesses and the Sherriff's Department's Homicide Bureau urges anyone with information to call in. According to the LA Times Homicide Report, this is the first homicide within a one mile radius in the past year.
