Police are investigating the execution style murder of 17-year-old Cheyanne Bond who was shot in the head on Sunday, just a week after graduating from Malcolm X Shabazz High School in New Jersey.
Bond had attended prom, aspired to be a nurse, and had even registered for college to study nursing.
Her dream ended abruptly when she and her male friend, also 17, were gunned down on Sunday while walking near 573 South 17th St.
They were approached by a gunman, who ordered them to kneel down and shot Bond in the head. Bond's friend survived the shooting and is now recovering in hospital.
Investigators have revealed surveillance footage showing two possible witnesses who happened to walk on the same street moments after the shooting.
The incident was the third homicide reported in Newark within the 24 hours last weekend.
