Man shot dead at San Bernandino strp mall Wednesday night is area's fourth shooting in five days.
There are conflicting reports on the circumstances surrounding the shooting of Juan Carlos Villapudua.
He was at the strip mall on the 2800 block of W. Rialto Ave at 11:30pm and had on him a replica handgun.
A police news release says he made contact with someone in a newer model white car, possibly a Nissan.
From within the car then came gunshots, striking him at least once in his upper torso.
However, family members say the shooting was random and he was there cashing in a winning lottery ticket.
The vehicle that the shots came from is known in San Bernandino and the victim has a history of drug-related activity.
This is the fourth shooting in five says in the area, although police do not believe the crimes are related. Villapudua leaves behind five children.
