Crossbow attack: Laptop shields Australian man from arrow-shooting axe maniac

2015-05-12 1

An Australian man is lucky to be alive after an axe-wielding maniac's crossbow bolt impaled his laptop instead of his body.

Greg Williams, a 56-year-old resident of Somersby, was leaving his house on Tuesday afternoon.

Williams probably didn't expect what would come next, because, really, who would expect an axe and crossbow wielding villain?

All of the sudden, he saw a man aiming a crossbow at him and at first thought it was a joke. It wasn't.

The bolt hit his laptop, narrow missing him just as the man ran toward Williams with axe in hand.

Williams suffered a blow to the head, and the two struggled as the axeman kept swinging.

Williams wrestled with the man and managed to avoid further injury until a neighbor came to help.

Police believe the attack was related to a domestic dispute. The suspect cannot be named for legal reasons, but is 49-year-old Texan. He was charged with attempted murder and malicious wounding.
