A 78-year-old man was found dead in his Wittman, Arizona mobile home partially eaten by his pets, authorities said.
Tuesday morning Jerry Brown was discovered by a concerned neighbor.
"When I went up to the house the smell was overwhelming," Roger Halstead told AZFamily.com.
Halstead said he saw close to 75 cats living in the home. The floor was covered in feces, more than six inches deep.
Brown was found dead in his bed with a gun lying beside him. His body was badly decomposed and his body was partially eaten by his pets.
"You couldn’t tell if he had inflicted any wounds on himself or died of natural causes," Halstead said.
No cause of death has been determined.
Law enforcement is working with officials from the Arizona Humane Society to rescue the animals.
