A Michigan man with a nearly 100 lb scrotum is looking to crowdfund medical costs for surgery with a GoFundMe page: www.gofundme.com/-Dan-Maurer-Surgery-Fund
In an interview with WZZM / CNN from his Battle Creek home, 39-year-old, Dan Maurer said he noticed his scrotum began growing sometime in his late 20’s.
He went to a doctor and was told that he needed to lose weight so he hit the pool, swimming two miles a day. He quickly shed 50 lb from his frame but the thing kept growing ... to about the size of a cantaloupe.
He went back to the doctor, whose advice was same: lose more weight; maybe try lap-band surgery. As frustration with doctors grew, so did his scrotum, and his relationship with wife started to suffer.
Maurer felt like he was all alone in his condition until he saw the story of Wesley Warren Jr. on a TLC show called “The man with the 132 Pound Scrotum.” Warren suffered from Scrotal Lymphedema which is a condition caused by blockages in the lymphatic vessels.
Warren’s story gave Maurer new hope that there might be help for him, and if not for him, he wanted to do it for his wife of 20 years, Mindy.
