A private plane flown by New York real estate developer Larry Glazer and his wife has crashed into the water off Jamaica on Friday.
According to USA Today, the single-engine turboprop, Socata TBM-700 took off at 8:26 a.m. on Friday from Rochester, New York and was scheduled to land in Naples, Florida about noon.The plane went passed its destination and crashed off the coast of Port Antonio in Jamaica at about 2:15 p.m.
Two fighter jets were dispatched to escort the turboprop. Fighter jet pilots saw Glazer was unconscious before the plane’s windows became frosted over, ABC News reported.
At 10 a.m., the plane was flying at 28,000 when the pilot, Larry Glazer asked permission to descend to 18,000 feet due to an issue with the plane. Air traffic controllers gave permission to the plane to descend to 25,000 feet but Glazer requested to descend even lower. Glazer was instructed by the controllers to turn left and descend to 20,000 feet but he had stopped responding after he made the left turn, ABC News reported.
A search for the plane’s wreckage has been launched.
