Two U.S. Navy fighter jets collided about 470 kilometers west of Wake Island in the western Pacific Ocean at around midnight on Thursday.

According to ABC30, the crash took place at around 11:45 p.m. (PST) during a routine training of aircraft. NBC news reported that the two F/A-18C Hornet fighter jets, embarked on the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, were in a “holding pattern” preparing to land when they suddenly collided.

One of the pilots safely ejected and suffered minor injures while the other pilot has not yet been found, NBC News reported. The two aircraft that had crashed have not yet been located.

The guided-missile cruiser USS Bunker Hill, the guided-missile destroyer USS Gridley and helicopters have been deployed to assist the search of the missing pilot, according to a statement published by the U.S. Department of Defense.
