Chicago man Tommy Schaefer has confessed to killing his girlfriend’s mother Sheila von Weise-Mack in Bali, Indonesia and stuffing the body in a suitcase with the help of his girlfriend.
According to Reuters, Tommy Schaefer confessed that he was in an argument with Sheila von Weise-Mack in a hotel room. He was offended and then killed the victim. The victim’s daughter Heather Mack witnessed the killing and confessed that she helped to put the body into a suitcase. Police believe a heavy glass ornament is the murder weapon, the USA Today reported.
The victim died of asphyxiation, which was caused by a broken nose. An autopsy also found a broken bone in her neck, and several wounds to the left arm, according to the USA Today.
The couple was arrested on August 13 after the body of Sheila von Weise-Mack was found in a suitcase. They allegedly put the suitcase in the trunk of a taxi outside the hotel that they stayed at before fleeing the scene. The pair was later found at another hotel. Once convicted of a planned murder, the couple will face death penalty or life imprisonment, the USA Today reported.
