Dumb criminal: home burglar shot dead accomplice after arguing over stolen goods

2015-05-11 1

A suspected South Carolina burglar faces a murder charge after shooting dead his alleged accomplice during an argument about stolen goods obtained from several home burglaries in Lexington and Calhoun counties early Thursday morning, Lexington County Sheriff Lewis McCarty said in a statement released to the press.

Anthony Wayne Jeffcoat, 46, and Steven Boone, 41, got into an altercation after the two disagreed on how to divvy up the stolen items, which included a gun. The argument led to Jeffcoat killing Boone with one shot from the stolen gun outside the backyard shed that Jeffcoat lived in near West Columbia.

Jeffcoat fled the scene in a blue GMC Sierra truck, leaving Boone to bleed to death from a bullet in his heart.

Jeffcoat contacted authorities and turned himself in on Thursday afternoon and is now being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.
