Fifteen people were injured at a nightclub in Miami when they were hit by bullets fired inside the club early Sunday morning. The shootout took place at The Spot — an all ages club on NW 64th Street and Seventh Avenue.
Bouncers are supposed to check for weapons, but apparently a few firearms made their way past security. Teens were dancing the night away peacefully. All was cool until around 1 a.m. when the guns started blasting.
One witness told the Miami Herald that there were two groups of people firing shots back and forth. Some estimate that more than 100 shots were fired. Fifteen people were injured and seven victims were hospitalized as a result.
The victims were between 11 and 25 years old. Most injuries were non-life-threatening, but one 15-year-old victim was listed in critical but stable condition.
The Spot acquired its liquor license in April. It’s not known whether alcohol was being served to the minors.
