Human flesh burger: Chef creates burger that tastes of human flesh, inspired by The Walking Dead

2015-05-11 35

British Chef James Thomlinson allegedly successfully recreated burgers taste just like human flesh. Thomlinson will give away burgers in east London starting Sept. 30.

Without actually tasting human meat, Chef Thomlinson referred to testimonials from a 1920s New York Times experiment. Journalist William Seabrook, convinced a doctor to cut a chunk of flesh from a male body for him.

Seabrook described human flesh as resembling veal or pork. Chef Thomlinson recreated the taste by mixing veal, chicken livers, bone marrow and pork together.

The new menu item is part of a promotional campaign for the upcoming season of “The Walking Dead,” in which the main characters could be -- spoiler alert -- stuck in a cannibalistic camp.

Another inspiration came from 80s psycho cannibal killer Issei Sagawa, who described human flesh as similar to “raw tuna fish sushi.”

Starting next Tuesday, chef Thomlinson will offer brave diners his human-flavored burgers at his mysterious pop-up restaurant Terminus Tavern in east London.
