Earlier this year on February 2, NYC Mayor Bill DiBlasio became the first mayor ever to drop a meteorologically astute rodent. Little did we know that the little guy -- or actually girl -- her real name is Charlotte, didn’t make it, and died a week later.
The Staten Island Zoo reported said the animal was given a thorough medical examination right after the incident, revealing “no evidence of trauma or pain”. Charlotte the woodchuck was then seen in events for the next week until February 9, when she was found dead in her enclosure. It’s only now that they’ve released that information to the public.
