Thursday, April 16. Dangerous speeds and unfriendly weather caused a massive pile-up[a][b] on Interstate 80 in Wyoming. An estimate of 45 vehicles were involved in the collision which injured 27 people. There are no reports of fatalities.
Footage shows both the devastation and its aftermath. As each enormous truck came in, a loud echoing crash could be heard. One witness recorded a video in which people can be heard screaming and frantically warning other drivers, but to no avail.
The aftermath was recorded by a panicked man. Blood stains can be seen on the snow.
According to Wyoming Highway Patrol, it was the combination of reckless driving and a strong blizzard that lead to the pile-up. Interstate 80 was reportedly closed overnight for rescue and repairs.
