A United Express flight operated by SkyWest Airlines made a rapid descent and emergency landing in Buffalo on Wednesday after three passengers reportedly lost consciousness.

SkyWest Flight 5622 was enroute from O’Hare International Airport to Bradley International Airport in Connecticut when it made an emergency landing at Buffalo Niagara International Airport on Wednesday, according to CBS.

Three passengers fainted an hour into the flight, NBC Connecticut reported.

The pilot initially thought the aircraft might have a pressurization problem after passengers lost consciousness, SkyWest Airlines told CBS News. He then declared an emergency landing and the plane dropped from 37,000 feet to 10,300 feet in just three minutes.

SkyWest Airlines spokeswoman Marissa Snow said the pilot’s decision was “out of an abundance of caution”. She also denied media reports of problems involving the plane’s doors, and said the plane did not encounter any pressurization problems, according to CBS News.
