Brisbane, Australia has experienced record breaking rains that have caused flash floods, property damage, and killed at least three people.

Breaking previous records for May, over 300 millimeters of rain fell in some areas, causing flash floods across the city of Brisbane and surrounding areas. Sidewalks and yards were flooded, as rivers and streams overflowed into the streets.

Cars were seen floating down flooded roads, and dozens of vehicles were stranded as water levels rose to dangerous heights. Over 800 requests for help have been made to the State Emergency Service, with the vast majority being related to vehicle or traffic accidents.

The heavy rains have caused many transportation issues, while all trains in and out of the airport have been suspended and buses are delayed. The rains and storm conditions are expected to last over the weekend, and government officials have urged citizens to stay indoors.
