Chilean President Michelle Bachelet has begun to name her new Cabinet after requesting the resignations of all former members. The first to retain his position is Chile’s Foreign Minister Heraldo Muñoz. On Wednesday night, Bachelet asked her entire cabinet to resign, adding she would announce her new team within 72 hours. The president said the changes are due to “multiple elements” and hopes the move will strengthen the executive to promote the social reforms being promoted in the country. A new opinion poll shows Bachelet’s approval rating at 31%, unchanged from March. Her disapproval rating is at 64%, three points higher than last month, while the disapproval rating for her government is at 70%. teleSUR
